A relationship with God or becoming a Christian!

Step 1 GOD'S PURPOSE:

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life

The Bible Says...
"...we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." Romans 5:1

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

"My purpose is to give life in all its fullness." John 10:10

Step 2 -OUR PROBLEM: SEPARATION

God created us in His own image to have an abundant

life. He did not make us robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God.

The Bible Says...
"For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard." Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

OUR ATTEMPTS

Through the ages, individuals have tried in many ways to bridge this gap...without success..

The Bible says...
"There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death." -Proverbs 14:12

"But there is a problem—your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore." -Isaiah 59:2

Step 3 -GOD'S REMEDY: THE CROSS

Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem.

He died on the cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between God and people.

The Bible says...
"For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus." 1 Tim. 2:5

"Christ also suffered when he died for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit." 1 Peter 3:18

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

Step 4 -OUR RESPONSE: RECEIVE CHRIST

We must trust Jesus Christ and receive Him by personal invitation.

The Bible Says...

"Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends." Rev. 3:20

"But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12

"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

HOW CAN I RECEIVE CHRIST?

1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave. (have faith in what Jesus did for you)
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Saviour.)

WHAT SHOULD I PRAY?
Dear Lord Jesus: I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Saviour.  Please forgive me and come and help me live my life your way from now on.  Thank you for hearing me now, in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you have just prayed this prayer read on...

THE BIBLE SAYS:

For "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?

"God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." Ephesians. 2:8-9

THE BIBLE SAYS…

"So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life." 1 John 5:12-13

Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer...this is called regeneration or the "new birth." Being born again is a biblical idea not an American one, or a weird one.

This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you need to….

1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.

2. Talk to God in prayer every day.

3. Tell others about Christ.

4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.

5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.

God Bless You!
