Fairtrade

As a Fairtrade Church, we only use Fairtrade tea and coffee, and encourage anyone using the building to do the same. We also try to use Fairtrade sugar, fruit and biscuits when we can, Fairtrade 2but this is not always possible. We are also looking to promote Fairtrade more in the church, especially during Fairtrade Fortnight.

We are a Fairtrade church but what is Fairtrade?

With Fairtrade you have the power to change the world every day. With simple shopping choices you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their futures and lead the dignified life everyone deserves. Fairtrade is a simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love. We do this by changing the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions and a fair deal for farmers and workers in developing countries.

Fairtrade is unique. They work with businesses, consumers and campaigners. Farmers and workers have an equal say in everything they do. Empowerment is at the core of who they are.

Their vision is of a world in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfil their potential and decide on their future.

NilgiriTheir mission is to connect disadvantaged producers and consumers, promote fairer trading conditions and empower producers to combat poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their lives.
